In the following areas Alliance Sud Expertise has in-house competence and long experience
- Studies and statements on central development issues
As part of an organisation active in the field of development policy, Alliance Sud Expertise is conversant with the national and international debates, and analyses specific issues. When it was the Debt-for-Development Unit, it advised the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) on debt relief and poverty reduction matters under a mandate lasting more than ten years.
- Monitoring of poverty reduction strategies
In the framework of several country studies, Alliance Sud Expertise has developed and locally validated a monitoring tool that emphasises the civil society perspective.
- Building up and technically assisting local and national funds on the ground
As part of Switzerland's debt relief program, the Debt-for-Development Unit cooperated with Seco and SDC in providing technical assistance in the structuring and operation of funds borne by public and private organisations. That technical assistance covered strategic, organizational and legal matters.
- Assessment of research cooperation with countries in the South
As an active member of the KFPE (Swiss Commission for Research Partnerships with Developing Countries) Alliance Sud Expertise have a wide experience of scientific research partnership with developing and transition countries.
